Note to Parents
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website!
The sisters of Delta Psi Delta recognize that Rushing and the Recruitment and the New Member (NM) period can be a very new experience to both you and your daughter. We hope to address some concerns you may have in the following letter. If you are unsure or would like some additional explanation, please feel free to contact us!
Many of you are reading this letter because your daughter has expressed interest in becoming a member of Delta Psi Delta's Gamma Chapter. We will get to know your daughter through the recruitment period. This is a period of time that consists of a series of social and philanthropic events that allow the chapter to get to know individuals interesting in joining the sorority. The Delta Psi Delta sisters hope to find common qualities and values with your daughter that are significant to our chapter such as Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. After recruitment period is over, your daughter may be eligible for a bid that transitions her into the potential new member period.
The NM period is sometimes a misunderstood process because people automatically assume that there is bullying or hazing. The sisters of Delta Psi Delta want to assure you that at no point in time will your daughter encounter any form of bullying or hazing within our sorority. We realize that the girls going through the NM period are our future sisters and would never want to put them in physical or psychological harm. Please be assured that the NM period is a memorable time where you will learn about Delta Psi Delta’s history and experience creating amazing bonds with the sisters.
Our chapter has been an active since 2008. The sisters of the Gamma chapter want to continue to strive for excellence. We take pride in helping out our community, strengthening our sisterhood, and focusing on our academics.
Every semester, we take part in countless philanthropic activities. A common favourite is our annual Halloween Food Drive. On Halloween, the sisters of Delta Psi Delta go to houses which have been previously notified collecting canned and non-perishable food items for the Daily Bread Food Bank. We also participate in the Multiple Sclerosis walk every year, host bake sale fundraisers around campus, and much more.
The sisters of Delta Psi Delta also take pride in our academics. We understand that school is the number one priority for every member. There is a grade requirement to apply and remain in Delta Psi Delta. We try to help our sisters as much as possible to achieve academic success. Whether it is: lending study notes, offering advice about particular classes or professors, or planning study dates for an upcoming exam, Delta Psi Delta sisters are always here to help and encourage each member to achieve academic success.
If you have any additional concerns or questions do not hesitate to contact us. We will try to respond to you as soon as we possibly can.
Sincerely,
The Sisters of Delta Psi Delta
GAMMA CHAPTER
